Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp’s $2.3 million public school investment proposal has been approved by the Hamilton County School Board, paving the way for improvements at 11 area schools. Additionally, Mayor Wamp has proposed that $300,000 be allocated to volunteer fire departments for equipment funding. (Chattanoogan.com)

The City of Chattanooga has launched its new city website, ending a three-year-long development process + marking its first redesign since 2011. Users can now make payments online, access documents like council agendas and contracts, and more.
Traffic
Fort Street (between W. 13th and W. 14th Streets) + W. 13th Street (between Fort and Chestnut Streets) are closed until Saturday, Sept. 28 at 12 p.m. for the Tennessee Tow Show. Parking will also be restricted during the closures. Detours will be posted.

Hamilton County’s first bilingual public school is now open. ChattAcademy uses a dual immersion model, offering native English + Spanish speakers to study in the same classroom. Wanderlinger Brewing Co. announced its new taproom location will be on the Chattanooga Choo Choo’s campus. The brewery will have storefronts on both the Choo Choo Gardens + Station Street sides of the building (in between 50/50 Wine and Martini Bar and Elsie’s Daughter). Stay tuned for an opening date.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga will celebrate the opening of the new James A. Henry Community YMCA location at 3500 Dodson Ave. today, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. Fun fact: This branch prepares, packs + distributes over 300,000 meals annually to children across the region.

The City of Red Bank is seeking artists for a mural installation that reflects the atmosphere + character of Red Bank City Park. The mural will be painted on the facilities building at the park. See the pre-qualifications + apply by Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 12 p.m.
