Bye-bye potholes
These roads are about to receive a facelift. | Photo provided by Chattanooga Tourism Co.
Good news for local commuters: six area roads are set to receive improvements.
The Kelly Administration recently identified $2 million in unspent bonds — dollars that the city government borrowed in the past for public infrastructure projects — which will now be used to make significant upgrades to city streets by the Public Works Department.
The funds will be used to pave these roads:
Oak Street (from Glenwood Drive to Shallowford Road)
Shallowford Road (from McCallie Avenue to North Crest Road)
Wilcox Boulevard (from Greenwood Avenue to Shallowford Road)
North Concord Road/Hamilton Place Boulevard (from Igou Gap to the current TDOT project)
Hickory Valley Road (from Discovery Drive to Highway 58)
Additionally, funds will be used for repaving, lane paintings, curb changes, and adding pedestrian area dividers on Frazier Avenue.
Stay tuned for construction date announcements + road closures.
