In case you missed it, the Walnut Street Bridge Renovation Project is set to begin on Monday, March 17, and bridge users will not be able to cross the bridge entirely during the renovation period.

In an effort to provide a detour while construction is underway, Veterans Bridge is set to receive an artistic wayfinding installation along its walking and biking path.

Bolt’s work is known for integrating bold patterns and motifs, inspired by urban landscapes, nature, and traditional textiles.

The City of Chattanooga has selected New York-based artist Ebony Bolt to create the public art installations. Bolt is known for her vibrant + community-focused designs and has previously worked on projects like enhancing streetscapes through the NYC Department of Transportation’s art program.

The first phase of the project will focus on the artistic wayfinding installation. Bolt will conduct a site visit + meet with community members to develop a proposal and implementation plan.

Bolt’s plan will be reviewed and approved by a selection committee, with the installation process to begin in late February or early March.
