In case you’re new here, it’s an almost 24-hour festival on the first Saturday of December that happens along Main Street + the surrounding Southside area. It’s organized by residents and businesses and features more than 100 events — so the fun never stops.

So, what’s happening at MAINx24 on Saturday, Dec. 6? A lot — you can browse through the events as they continue to roll in. While not every event will be open to kiddos, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Take note: The last day to register to participate in the parade is this Friday, Nov. 21.
  • Pop-Up Zoo | 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. | Head to 405 E. Main St. to see some of the Chattanooga Zoo’s animal residents + zookeepers.
  • World Heavyweight Chili Championship | 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Grab a $15 ticket at the door to sample chili from over 20 teams, sip on drinks, and enjoy live music. Take note: If you’d like to compete for the title, register your team by Thursday, Dec. 4.

Wackiest events:

  • Fire & Ice Polar Plunge | 3:30-4 p.m. | Common House will open its doors to the public so you can take a plunge in their pool — all participants will receive a warm beverage.

Foodie events:

  • Niedlov’s Beignets | 8 a.m.-2:00 p.m. | If you know, you know — get these sweet treats early before they sell out.
  • Biscuits Be Poppin’ | 9-11 a.m. | Whether you like bacon, eggs, sausage, or gravy on your biscuits — Main Street Meats will have you covered.
  • Lobster Rolls & Bisque | 11 a.m.-10 p.m. | Check out new restaurant Camila for this classic seafood dish.
  • Food Street | 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. | You don’t want to miss this mini street food festival where you can get a real taste of Chattanooga’s diverse food scene. A ticket will allow you to try five signature dishes from local chefs.

As for getting to MAINx24 — we’re gonna give it to you straight — parking can be a little overwhelming. Avoid Main Street, and if you’re able, we recommend parking a bit further out and walking or biking. There will also be several street closures, so expect traffic in the area + keep an eye out for pedestrians.
