Get ready to build a close-knit community through Scenic Stitches — a new fiber arts event company that is upping the thread count in Chattanooga.
Founded by award-winning + internationally-exhibiting hand embroidery artist Courtney Cox, this company wants to showcase the joy of possibility through fiber arts.
As its first official introduction to the scene, folks can enjoy the Scenic Stitches Fiber Festival on Saturday, Feb. 1 + Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
Cox said this inaugural event has already been more than she hoped for, bringing in over 70 vendors from across the nation, like Colorado + Michigan. The festival will be more than just fiber arts booths, you can expect:
The Handmade Fashion Show — fill out the interest form to be able to strut your own wearable pieces
The Stitch Marker Swap based on the “take one, leave one” model
Yarn bombing (similar to Scenic Stitches’ pop-ups during MAINx24)
Fiber arts sampling classes (for beginners to more-skilled crafters) — you must register in advanced
Color Story: All About Pink | 6-7:30 p.m. | The Chattery (Broad Street) | $23 | Learn the rich and evolving history of the color pink, a hue that has inspired art, fashion, and culture throughout the ages — proceeds will benefit CHI Memorial’s Pink Gala.

Tennessee Public Utility Commission has denied Tennessee American Water Co.’s proposed 19.7% rate for Chattanooga residents in a recent vote. Notably, water usage will only see a 1.45% increase + the commission also denied charging folks living in the city higher amounts than those living in rural areas.

48 more homes have been added to the plans for the 122-acre Hillock Farms site in Hixson, bringing this development to a total of 478 residential units. Now overseen by local developer Ethan Collier, this project was first introduced in 2016 by a Florida-based company. (Chattanoogan.com)

The Isaiah 117 House is accepting nominations for its annual Spread the Love Campaign. Throughout February, homes + businesses nominated will have heart-shaped yard decorations placed outside for 24 hours. This initiative raises funds for fostering children.
