Get ready to build a close-knit community through Scenic Stitches — a new fiber arts event company that is upping the thread count in Chattanooga.

Founded by award-winning + internationally-exhibiting hand embroidery artist Courtney Cox, this company wants to showcase the joy of possibility through fiber arts. Scenic Stitches got its start through ArtsBuild’s Periscope artist entrepreneur cohort, where Cox said she was inducted and pitched a knitting event.

“I think Chattanooga is pretty unique, and that they value their artists here as businesses owners,” she said.

As its first official introduction to the scene, folks can enjoy the Scenic Stitches Fiber Festival on Saturday, Feb. 1 + Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

Cox said this inaugural event has already been more than she hoped for, bringing in over 70 vendors from across the nation, like Colorado + Michigan. The festival will be more than just fiber arts booths, you can expect:

  • The Handmade Fashion Show — fill out the interest form to be able to strut your own wearable pieces
  • The Stitch Marker Swap based on the “take one, leave one” model
  • Yarn bombing (similar to Scenic Stitches’ pop-ups during MAINx24)
  • Fiber arts sampling classes (for beginners to more-skilled crafters) — you must register in advanced
  • Meeting local groups like the Chattanooga Yarn Crafters + the Chattanooga Fiber Arts Guild

Passes are $5 for one day or $8 for the full weekend. The first 60 people on both days will also receive free yarn.

Pro tip: Scenic Stitches won’t just be an annual festival — stay in the know through Instagram for future fiber arts retreats, community pop-ups, and more.
