Chattanooga is gaining a new music venue, a fine dining restaurant, and a brand new experience — all in one. | Rendering by Mattaforma
Michelin star-chefs, intimate settings, conversations over courses, and transcendental house music filling the void — that’s what each guest will experience when Monospace opens in the Southside.
Brought to you by the minds of creative director and DJ Christopher Knowles + Craig Richards, executive chef of Altanta-based Lyla Lila, this venture has been in the making since 2023.
“Our joy is in curating, we want you to think of Monospace as effectively breaking out of your comfort zone,” Knowles said. “We want to curate really interesting and compelling experiences for you.”

Knowles said this modular concept is a cross-pollination of two experiences that connect people + build community.

The space will reside at the undeveloped side of Stove Works and be a build-out of shipping containers that will be transformed into a micro-kitchen + bar and a DJ booth. This area is projected to break ground at the end of this year.

🛶 A paddle adventure like no other
Join over 300 paddlers this summer to travel through Georgia, Tennessee + Alabama on the water. | Photo via Chattanooga Tourism Co.
This summer, a historic feat is taking place in our backyard (but really, the riverfront) as Paddle Georgia — the largest week-long canoe/kayak camping adventure in the country — launches its first expedition through the Tennessee River to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The journey will begin Sunday, June 15 + run through Sunday, June 22, covering over 80 miles. Alright, paddlers, let’s break down the trip and some local sights.
Kick off in nearby Ringgold, GA for a 10-mile run to Graysville.
Travel from Graysville to Chattanooga’s Sterchi Farm Trailhead (16 miles) — you’ll see: Audubon Acres, Camp Jordan (campsite), Shallowford Ecological Preserve + the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway.
A 6-mile dash during the Chattanooga Cha Cha through downtown — you’ll see: Coolidge Park, the Tennessee Aquarium + have the day to explore.
Speaking of paddlers, in all my years living here, I’ve actually never taken up paddling myself (but I’m hoping to change that this summer). For my fellow beginners, I recommend booking an instructional class through L2 Outside or checking out Outdoor Chattanooga’s guide to paddling in the Scenic City — they sometimes offer free lessons as well.
