Hamilton County DA Coty Wamp confirmed that The East Ridge Budgetel Inn & Suites recently went into foreclosure — but changes are coming. The motel was purchased by new owners and is expected to be demolished + become retail space. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
Drink
Gate 11 Distillery is expanding distribution across the state. The local independent craft distillery announced that its full range of spirits is now available at more liquor stores, bars, and restaurants statewide. Brb, we’re sharing the news with our friends at 865today + NASHtoday.
Feel Good
UTC engineering graduate student Connor Mackey used 3D printing to address a Chihuahua’s health concern head on. Wrexham, the playful 1-year-old pup, was born with Open Fontanelle, meaning his skull has a soft spot. Mackey designed + printed a custom helmet so the dog can safely play outdoors. (Local 3)
Edu
UTC received a $2.4 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration that will help address behavioral health needs in Southeast Tennessee. University employees will work with eight community partners to train workers who can provide mental health services to children, adolescence, and young adults.
