Get ready for a bargain. The world’s longest yard sale will be passing through Chattanooga next Thursday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 10.

🧗 Free Red Bull climbing event coming to Chattanooga

16 athletes will scale the Market Street Bridge on Saturday, Aug. 16, competing to be the first to ring the bell at the top, with only the Tennessee River to catch them. The event is free + open to the public.
Steve Martin is coming to town. The actor and banjoist will co-host the 2025 IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards with musician Alison Brown. The show will be at the Memorial Auditorium on Thursday, Sept. 18 and music fans can attend in person. Tickets are on sale now.
Environment
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is exploring ways to stabilize 1,900 feet of eroding streambank two miles downstream from the Chickamauga Dam. The concern is that the erosion is moving toward a sewer line and pumping station, but officials say they’re being proactive and there is no immediate threat. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

Hilltop Drive could soon be expanding near Miller Industries, between Hunter Road and Volkswagen Drive. The Hamilton County Commission is expected to vote on the expansion next Wednesday, Aug. 6. If approved, the project aims to ease traffic congestion at Exit 11 and Old Georgetown Road. (News Channel 9)

Hamilton County Schools is throwing its annual Back to School Bash tomorrow, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tennessee Riverpark. There will be interactive learning activities, therapy dogs, and free snacks. Parents can also learn about resources for learning, health, and economic support.

Tickets are now on sale for this season’s Chattanooga Symphony & Opera concerts. The CSO says the 2025-2026 season is a celebration of its history — exploring the “triumphs, challenges, and transformative moments” that have shaped it over the years.
Plan Ahead
Get ready for the three Bs — bacon, BBQ, and bourbon. The Chattanooga Bacon & Barrel Festival will return to the First Horizon Pavilion on Friday, Sept. 26. Restaurants will be serving up their best bacon-themed dishes and attendees will get to vote for their favorite while sipping on bourbon.

I have a love-hate relationship with skating. As a preteen, I spent countless weekends at the rink — anyone remember Roller Coaster Skate World on Hixson Pike? I loved it. But as I got a little older, I broke my wrist rollerblading and never skated again.
