If you could use a laugh, you’re in luck. The Lookout Comedy Festival returns next week, bringing comedians from all over the country to Chattanooga.

Catch shows from Wednesday, Oct. 22 through Saturday, Oct. 25 at The Comedy Catch, JJ’s Bohemia, The Granfalloon, and Wanderlinger Brewing Company.

News Notes

Mansion Monday

She’s a brick house — literally. With soaring ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, and a home theater, this 5,100-sqft stunner in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood has plenty to brag about. My favorite feature? The screened-in section of the back deck — perfect for eating dinner al fresco without the bugs.

Pets

The Halloween Pup Crawl returns this Saturday, Oct. 18 from 1 to 8 p.m. There will be $3 pints at downtown breweries, a pet-friendly scavenger hunt, costume contests, raffle prizes, and you can meet adoptable pups along the way. All proceeds benefit the Humane Educational Society.

State

Looking for a pizza the action? Chattanooga didn’t make The Food Network’s 50 States of Pizza Slices list, but we think they’re sleeping on our pizza scene. Whether you’re after thin crust, funky toppings, deep dish, or takeout gems, we’ve got plenty of great pizzerias in town.

The Word

Noctourism. That’s the name of one of this year’s hottest travel trends, in which people soak in experiences after dark. Think: stargazing, night markets, dinner cruises. Given that it’s October, a local ghost tour is the perfect way to join the fun. (The Traveler)

Eat

Ever woken up craving an acai bowl? You’re not alone. It’s the most-searched breakfast food in Tennessee, according to a new Premier Inn report. Food for thought: Instead of scouring search engines for your next meal, explore our guide to the best brunch eats in Chattanooga.

Active

Cristiano Ronaldo is the first soccer player in history to accrue a net worth of $1 billion, per Bloomberg statistics. Currently plying his trade in Saudi Arabia, the 40-year-old shows no sign of calling it quits anytime soon. If you start by bringing a ball to a local park with your kid, maybe they’ll amass a similar fortune.

Jobs

Tired of wading through resumes from applicants who are states away? Ditch oversaturated national job boards for our locally focused Job Board. Get started at no cost — post unlimited job listings for free.

The Buy

A set of non-slip stair carpet treads. We love that they feature a peel off backing for easy installation and no leftover residue. Bonus: They’re ultra-soft, durable, and easy to clean.

The Wrap

Here’s some good news to start your week: Sweet treats are officially good for you. Experts say the excitement of an inbound treat can help release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that contributes to focus, cognitive function, and feelings of joy. Sounds like the perfect excuse to pick up some bonbons from The Hot Chocolatier when they open tomorrow.
