Halloween is creeping closer, and Chattanooga has no shortage of ways to get into the spirit. Here are some events still brewing for spooky season.

Civic

Chattanooga has 3,000+ open brush pickup requests, with some residents waiting months. City officials cite high demand, staffing shortages, and 311 software issues. Still, they urge residents to keep submitting requests, as 311 data helps prioritize services across city departments. (News Channel 9)

Eat

If you like wings, beer, and saving money — listen up. Nooga Wing & Beer Week is underway, which means several bars + restaurants are offering $8 wings and $4 local brews through Sunday, Oct. 19. Pro tip: Scan the QR code at each place for a chance to win prizes.

Festival

Must be the season of the witch apple. The Chattanooga Apple Festival will take over Camp Jordan this weekend. There will be fresh apples for purchase — of course — as well as pony rides, train rides, a petting zoo, and 200+ vendors. Admission and parking are free.

The nation’s first quantum apprenticeship program is coming to Chattanooga. ChattState and UTC are partnering with the Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative to offer the program, funded by a $1.33 million National Science Foundation Grant.*

Chattanooga FC will host Huntsville City FC in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals this Sunday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. — marking the first time an independent club has hosted a playoff match in league history. Grab your tickets + bring the noise to Finley Stadium.

Ready for takeoff? Next Thursday, Oct. 23, the Collegedale Kids Club is taking kids (ages 6-13) on a behind-the-scenes tour at the Collegedale Airport. Two days after a successful Highland Park Porchfest, there’s a new porchfest on the horizon.

The lineup was released for the inaugural Red Bank Porchfest, happening Saturday, Nov. 15. Front yards on Ashmore, Lyndon, and James avenues will soon become music venues.
