Chattanooga leaders broke ground Saturday on the Alton Park Connector, a 2.6-mile trail that will link South Chattanooga communities to the Tennessee Riverwalk. Phase 1 will focus on connecting Broad Street and St. Elmo Avenue. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

Chattanooga’s news stations will be battling this week — for a good cause. The Battle of the Bells will determine which station can raise the most money for the Salvation Army. It’s happening this Thursday, Dec. 18, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Place Mall food court.

Soddy Daisy Middle School is getting $34 million in upgrades, including updated classrooms, a new gym, and improvements to the cafeteria. Construction is expected to begin in October 2026 and will take about three years. When finished, the school will have room for 650 students. (Local 3 News)
