Not everyone is a record person. Some prefer music on CDs, on iTunes or on their Spotify account. But for those audiophiles who love that crackly, brassy vinyl sound, Saturday is your Christmas.

The first Record Store Day happened in 2008. Over 1,400 indie record stores participated that year, and the holiday has expanded ever since. The goal? To support indie record stores for the next generation of music lovers.

Every year, an established musician or music group becomes the official ambassador for the holiday. In past years, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Jack White, Chuck D, Dave Grohl, Metallica and St. Vincent have worn the ceremonial sash.

This year’s ambassador? Ummm, just a little band called Pearl Jam. 🎸

Record Store Day is celebrated around the world and Chattanooga is no exception. Here are some local record stores that have special deals on Saturday.
