A few weeks ago, our team checked out the newest rooftop bar in Chattanooga — and the first rooftop bar in the Hamilton Place area. For those of you who don’t wanna make the trek downtown for a rooftop experience — or who have family coming in town — we’re breaking down what you can expect at the new spot. 🍸

Experience

Checking out the new wxyz lounge

What we tried

We were most enthusiastic to try the rooftop aspect of the lounge, so we headed there first — after grabbing some drinks at the bar, of course. Although it’s located in the middle of Hamilton Place (we’re aware that the traffic is abysmal and a rooftop bar with a view of The Cheesesteak Factory doesn’t seem appealing at first), the views of Lookout are surprisingly lovely.

Oh, and if you’re looking for a drink recommendation, we suggest the Viva — fruity + Instagrammable — or Throwing Shade — boozy + classy.

Don’t miss

The artwork. The entire lounge is filled with colorful, 90s-vibe artwork. Our favorite piece is a mural painted by The Artist 7 along the back wall of hands playing the piano, but there’s also an awesome wall of painted records, a vibrant Bessie Smith canvas, and more.

What we’re still talking about

Wxyz is a lounge, not just a bar, so there’s more to do than just drink — you can also play games like tabletop shuffleboard + pool, have a meeting in one of the private nooks on the far side of the lounge, enjoy the rooftop views, or grab dinner (we’ll be returning to try the cauliflower buffalo wings).

Bonus: The newest Mean Mug location recently opened just below the lounge, attached to the Aloft hotel. ☕
