How to try Winter Olympic sports near Chattanooga

From ice skating and hockey to curling (yes, even skillet curling), here’s where to get in on the action locally and a short drive away.

NOOGAtoday | Ice on the Landing

If you’ve never ice-skated, prepare for a fun (and humbling) experience.

If you’ve been watching the 2026 Winter Olympics, you might be itching to try out some of the sports. While Chattanooga isn’t exactly a winter sports hub, there are still ways to get in on the action — whether that means taking a quick road trip or marking your calendar for next season closer to home.

Hit the road

Cool Sports | Knoxville, TN | Take individual or group ice skating classes at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced figure skating level.

Ice Chalet | Knoxville, TN | This indoor rink offers ice skating lessons, hockey programs, and curling classes.

Predators game | Nashville, TN | The Winter Olympics end on Sunday, Feb. 22 — but you can still get your hockey fix by attending a Predators game at Bridgestone Arena. Their next home game is Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. Grab tickets online.

Keep it local

Ice on the Landing | 1826 Reggie White Blvd. | Chattanooga’s seasonal ice rink may be closed for now, but it returns each winter with public skating sessions and lessons for all skill levels.

Chattanooga Hockey | 1801 Reggie White Blvd. | This inline hockey rink offers youth and adult leagues. Winter registration is closed, but summer league sign-ups will open ahead of the June season. Keep an eye on its Facebook page for updates.

Skillet Curling Championship | 1826 Reggie White Blvd. | Just like the curling you’ve been watching on TV — only with cast iron skillets. If you missed it this year, don’t worry, this free event happens every January at the First Horizon Pavilion.
