If you’re like me (Sean here) then all you want to do when the weather hits 80+ degrees is to sit on a porch somewhere and sip a cold drink. And I’m not alone. Noogans love their evening patio time + that’s why so many local establishments offer outdoor seating.

But not all patios are equal. Some are too cramped + the seating is literally a pain in the butt. Others have too much shade and not enough sun, or too much sun and not enough shade. Some places have great views but too many people. The variations are endless and it can be frustrating to find your ideal spot …

So, we’re asking you to help. What are your favorite porches/patios in NOOGA + why? Hit reply to this email and let us know.

Here are a few of my personal favorites to get you started:

OPA — 249 River St.

As soon as you walk through the door at OPA you immediately feel as if you’ve transported to the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. Of course, that was the idea. Rustic white-washed walls lead to the relatively new back porch that feels like an old world haunt. The mix of sun + shade will make you forget you’re in Tennessee.

The Daily Ration — 1220 Dartmouth St.

A former gas station turned restaurant, the porch at The Daily Ration is the perfect place to brunch with friends. The open space is inviting with plenty of room to have private conversations. The whole porch is shaded by the former gas station awning so you can sit outside without worrying about the weather.

Pickle Barrel — 1012 Market St.

One of Chattanooga’s favorite local joints, Pickle Barrel has one of the best porches you’ll find anywhere. The rooftop porch extends over the restaurant + offers great views of city life. The vibe is comfortable and casual. Do you want to hang out with locals? Are you a people watcher? Pickle Barrel is your best bet.
