Table of Contents

North Chattanooga’s Coolidge Park is a gem of the city with antique carousel from 1894 and ample space for events like the Moon River Festival. East Ridge’s Camp Jordan is well-known, expansive and draws sports tournaments.

But our city has plenty of other parks + playgrounds with amenities from pavilions and picnic tables to walking tracks and tennis courts.

We’ve compiled this list of unique (off the beaten path) parks based on reader feedback + our own research to help you explore the outdoor spaces that don’t always get as much love. 💌

Downtown pocket park

  • Main Terrain Art Park | Southside | Main Terrain is a park that allows art, fitness, and stormwater management to work together in one public landscape. It’s just off Main Street on an unused 1.72-acre parcel of land.

The neighborhood park

  • Riverview Park | 1857 Riverview Road | Riverview features picnic tables, a playground, swings + a large pavilion with a stage.

Fun at the playground

  • John A. Patten Park | 3202 Kellys Ferry Road | This community park has a playground, baseball field + a walking/biking trail. ProTip: The lights stay on at the playground after dark.
  • Vandergriff Park | 1414 Gadd Road | Vandergriff Park has three unique playgrounds to accommodate children of different ages, as well as a walking track around the play area.

Walk + bring the dogs

    • “Heritage in E. Brainerd is a nice place for a short walk.” — @GracieOak
    • “River Gallery Sculpture Garden at Bluff View.” —Rebecca B.
