Good morning from my couch, Chattanooga. Chloé here. 👋 Here’s a ProTip for ya — do not try to do a flip on a trampoline during these times.

I’m 36 and haven’t done a flip on a trampoline in years, but pride, restlessness and curiosity prompted me to give it a try last weekend, and although I landed it — I may have also injured my foot, the one I’ve broken twice already. 🤦‍♀️

So, instead of jumping too far out of your comfort zone and risking an injury, we’ve rounded up some virtual workouts to help keep you active while you shelter in place.

Intern extraordinaire Brianna Williams and I scoured the web to create this list aimed at finding something for everyone. (We didn’t find much in the way of workouts for senior citizens, so email us if you have ideas.)

💪 Coach Wood’s workouts on Youtube

Local elementary school PE teacher Coach Aaron Wood started a YouTube series to keep students (and let’s be real, all of us) moving while we’re at home.

The first workout was dancing, but now he’s on Day 18 of his series, which may be the most fun workout any of us are going to find. His enthusiasm and teaching-style take us back to PE class — such a simpler time.

Each workout is about 20 minutes. We’ve got this, y’all.

💪 Fit4Mom virtual classes

I’m no parent, but I’m watching my sister and girlfriend juggle working while having their kids at home, and let me just go ahead and bow down to you all right now.

These Fit4Mom’s classes include options with strollers so you can work out with your child. There’s also a family-run workout. Hopefully, a little exercise will boost your mood and maybe wear your (sweet) little monsters out, too.

Your first class is free. Complete this form to get started.

💪 GetBuilt Chattanooga Crossfit

GetBuilt is having a weekly “Lockdown Throwdown” virtual active challenge for those who sign up. David Yann recently hosted one from his backyard.

The workout included:

○ 4-minute run

○ Two minutes of the “Asian squat”

○ Leg stretching

○ Two sets including 10 reps of pushups, situps, air squats and Supermans

And that’s just the beginning. The link to register for the challenge is available in GetBuilt’s Instagram bio each week.

💪 Kyle House Fitness

Kyle House Fitness hosts live, free workouts every week, Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Each day has a different focus. For example, Monday is upper body day. The Southside business is also offering virtual training sessions and small groups for general fitness and yoga, and are accepting donations via Venmo account @kylehousefitness

The biz has also partnered with an app called Trainerize that allows for more personalized workouts. It has exercise tutorials and video demos and syncs to MyFitnessPal and other health-related apps. Kyle House Fitness can help you set up everything you need within the app.
