Reduce, reuse — “Reimagine.”

The Creative Discovery Museum (CDM) has opened its new temporary exhibit, “Reimagine: A Cardboard Wonderland,” an experience that aims to encourage guests to see creative ways to reuse materials like cardboard.

Conceptualized by Jessalyn Beasley + with the help of CDM staff, the exhibit was created by using cardboard and materials donated by the community and local businesses (like Chattanooga Box Co. and International Paper).

By exploring this exhibit, you are invited to engage in imaginative play (like dressing up like different characters to put on your own play at the theater) + be part of the community-driven creative process. You can make your own mark on the space as guests are encouraged to add their own creations to the ever-evolving exhibit.

There’s a selection of books you can pick to have a storytime inside the birds nest.

The exhibit is split into two areas:

The Wild
A nature-inspired section that transports guests into a cardboard forest, garden, and storybook world. Don’t miss climbing into the human-sized bird’s nest or standing between the butterfly wings for a photo-op.

The Town
A city built entirely from cardboard with nods to Chattanooga’s classic building facades like the Coolidge Park Carousel, the Tivoli Theatre, and the Tennessee Aquarium. Don’t miss stopping by the builder’s corner to create your own structures to add to the exhibit — City Editor Kristen made flowers to decorate the space.

“Reimagine” will be on display through Sunday, Jan. 5 + access to the exhibit is included with general admission to the museum.
