If you’re looking to make the most of summer and these sunny days, we’ve got 10 August events happening around the Scenic City for you to bookmark.

Maker Day

Celebrate local creatives and makers by joining the Chattanooga Public Library and River City Co. at the downtown branch on Saturday, Aug. 3 for a day full of free hands-on activities featuring a community art project + stations for cyanotypes, printmaking, zine-making, etc.

Bonus: Those 21+ can mingle at the after-party.

FarleyCon Pop Culture and Comic Book Expo

On Saturday, Aug. 3 + Sunday, Aug. 4, you can head over to Camp Jordan Arena for two days of all things pop culture — from meet and greets and cosplaying to shopping memorabilia and collectibles from your favorite comic books, shows, and movies. Day passes start at $15.

Doggie Pool Pawty

Take your pups out to the Carver Community Center for a day full of swimming with the McKamey Animal Center on Saturday, Aug. 10. Tickets start at $20 + are sold by the dog, not the person (so bring the whole family).

Buskers Festival

Enjoy this special edition of the Chattanooga Market on Sunday, Aug. 11. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the First Horizon Pavilion will have street-style performances tucked in every corner as you shop from local vendors.

Wine Over Water

Chattanooga’s “premier wine event” will return for its 29th year on Saturday, Aug. 17 on the Walnut Street Bridge from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The evening will feature live music from acts like Waxing and Waning + wine and food tastings. Tickets start at $125 — you must be 21 or older to attend.

James Baldwin Festival of Words

The Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas is back for its annual celebration of literary activist James Baldwin. Starting Friday, Aug. 23 through Sunday, Aug. 25, you can find several events happening around town like open mics, a Black author marketplace, workshops, and more.

Bonus: Kick off the festival early by celebrating Baldwin’s 100th birthday on Friday, Aug. 2.

Chatt Town Cool Down

Beat the heat with Outdoor Chattanooga on Friday, Aug. 23 + Saturday, Aug. 24 at Ross’s Landing. Enjoy live music and activities like a paddle parade, a foam party, slacklining, rollerblading with Dazy Skates, and more at this riverside festival.

The Zeitgeist

Get in the spirit of time for this 21+ event on Saturday, Aug. 24. Hosted by local art curator Kreneshia Riellé, the Chattanooga Choo Choo will be transformed to a space dedicated to different eras — choose your favorite and dress for a night of dancing and celebrating. Tickets start at $45.

Rail & Hops Brewers Festival

Those 21+ can enjoy local and regional craft brews in the Chattanooga Choo Choo Gardens on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets start at $45 (or $25 for designated drivers) + get you access to live music, food options, and a front row seat to the “Adult Big Wheel Race.”

Nooga Wing and Craft Beer Week

Nooga Nightlife has another week of deals planned for you all — don’t be a chicken, save the dates for Monday, Aug. 26 through Sunday, Sept. 1. While the participant lineup isn’t out yet, you can expect seven days of $8 wing + $5 beer deals at your favorite local spots.
