Why

Who is looking for something to celebrate this weekend? If you’re a Chattanoogan who likes to support local communities, have fun, and do it all for free, we’ve got the rest of the 5 Ws (and 1 H, of course) on this year’s Glass Street Live.

What

Glass Street Live, an annual, free, family-friendly block party that celebrates the Glass Street neighborhood in East Chattanooga. This will be the second year that the celebration is committee-led + facilitated by neighborhood residents in partnership with Glass House Collective.

When + Where

  • Sat., Nov. 6
  • 12-4 p.m.
  • Intersection between Glass Street + North Chamberlain Avenue

Why

Glass House Collectivea nonprofit dedicated to driving economic development, public art, and community conversation in the historic Glass Street neighborhood — saw how Chattanooga’s annual MAINx24 celebration boosted the Southside neighborhood, and wanted to bring a similar experience to East Chattanooga back in 2012.

After last year was canceled due to COVID-19, Glass Street Live is back to highlight the good in the neighborhood + invest in local acts, performers, artists, and residents.

In the words of Glass House Collective’s director Teal Thibaud, the event is “a good way to highlight and celebrate everything that’s happening here, and invite the rest of Chattanooga to see that + celebrate together.

How (you can enjoy the celebration)

  • Watch shows emceed by Erika Roberts — poet, Westside Evolves Creative Strategist, Chattanooga Design Studio Community Creatives Fellow, and doer of all things
  • Get your face painted (or the kids’, but we don’t see why you can’t join in on the fun)
  • Play giant Jenga + other board games, or show your skills at the CFC blow-up soccer field
  • Screen print your own t-shirt
  • Attend performances by local musicians, dancers, and live muralists
  • Fill your belly with food from local food trucks + vendors
  • Get a COVID-19 vaccine at the free clinic, while you’re at it
  • Check out the newest mural in town
  • And a whole lot more
