Hi, Nooga. 👋 Intern Cassidy here, and I love the outdoors + eating healthy (doesn’t everyone in Chattanooga?). There’s one thing I love to do that combines both of those passions: farming. It’s pretty common for people to have their own gardens, but not everyone has a full-blown farm. I didn’t grow up on a farm myself, but I have worked on Lupi’s Pizza’s farm, Flying Turtle Farm. There’s nothing more satisfying than planting a seed, watching it grow, and enjoying the final product that you made yourself. 😋

If you didn’t already know, the Chattanooga area is teeming with all sorts of farms, from urban farms to hemp farms. I also recently learned about Community Supported Agriculture, which is a system that allows consumers to subscribe to the harvest of certain participating farms, for people who want to know exactly where their food comes from. Good news: Chattanooga has several CSA farms too. 🙌

Eating local produce has a lot of benefits, not only for your health but also for the local economy. Oh, and eating well + supporting local businesses is more important than ever during a pandemic. I put together a list of some of Chattanooga’s most popular farms below so y’all can stay knowledgeable about your local farmers, and then get out there and support them.
