Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 1 through Tuesday, Oct. 31, all Tennesseans will benefit from a grocery tax suspension.

The three-month tax-free holiday is in conjunction with Governor Bill Lee’s Tennessee Works Tax Act — the single largest tax cut in the state’s history.

During this period, items that are identified as food or food ingredients will receive the tax break. Think: liquid, concentrated, solid, frozen, dried, or dehydrated substances. See the full list of eligible items.

Note: Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, candy, dietary supplements, and prepared food are not eligible + items purchased at a micro market or vending machine remain subject to sales tax.
