Celebrate and commemorate Veterans Day in Chattanooga

This Friday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. Many organizations will host ceremonies, events, and deals to honor those who have served in the US Armed Forces + active military members, along with their families.
Here are some of the local Veterans Day offerings happening throughout the community:
Events
Veterans Day Concert | Wednesday, Nov. 9 | 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. | Miller Plaza, 850 Market St. | Free | The Chattanooga Community Orchestra will honor veterans and their families with a lunchtime concert.
UTC Veteran and Military Affair Veterans Day Event | Friday, Nov. 11 | 2-6 p.m. | University Center, 615 McCallie Ave. | Free+ | This event will feature free food for veterans, giveaways, and fun for all in attendance.
Veterans Day Celebration | Friday, Nov. 11 | 3 p.m. | Veterans Memorial Park of Collegedale | Free | Members of the Collegedale Academy Band will perform patriotic selections + various elected officials will share presentations at this event.
Veterans Day Concert | Friday, Nov. 11 | 7:30 p.m. | Memorial Auditorium | Free | The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will present a free concert for the community to pay tribute to those who have served.

Chattanooga’s inaugural Community Culture Index Survey will close on Monday, Nov. 14. The Community Culture Index, developed by Hinton & Company staff,is one of the first highly-localized, data-driven assessment tools meant to quantify a region’s performance to DEI best practices.
The City of Chattanooga is partnering with Signal Centers to unveil Chattanooga’s first official ornament. Following its unveiling tomorrow at 3 p.m. at City Hall, the ornament will be available for purchase at local shops and galleries, with all proceeds going to the Hart Gallery.
Development
Work has started on a new 271-unit apartment complex in North Shore. The complex will be located across from 2 North Shore, and once completed in fall 2024, will feature studio, one, and two-bedroom apartments. 🏗️ (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

Red Bank’s annual Christmas Parade and Festival is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 2. This year’s festival will feature 40+ local vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, and photos with Santa from 4-8 p.m., with the parade beginning at 7 p.m. 🎅 (The Pulse)

Lexus of Chattanooga is moving from Lee Highway to Highway 153. Work on the new site is expected to start this year + be completed in ~12 months, when Lexus’ sister dealership Capital Toyota will grow its footprint and take over the vacated space on Lee Highway. 🚗 (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

Chattanooga Ballet’s beloved performances of “The Nutcracker” return Dec. 9-11 at the Memorial Auditorium, but the magic doesn’t stop there.
This year, Chattanooga Ballet will also debut “Behind the Curtain at The Nutcracker,” a behind-the-scenes experience on Sunday, Dec. 4. Cast members will take guests on a tour of the auditorium and give them a closer look at the costumes + props used in the production.
Bonus: Attendees will also get to listen to an interactive reading of “The Nutcracker” + take photos with the characters.
