With the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments just around the corner, we’re joining the fun of bracket competitions with a face-off of our own.
Last year, you helped us name the best local brewery: Hutton & Smith Brewing Co. This year, we asked you to share your favorite pizza joint in Chattanooga. Now — thanks to you and the help of a random generator — we have the official lineupfor our bracket.

Going head-to-head in the first round are:
Pizzeria Cortile vs. Chattanooga Pizza Co. | Pizzeria Cortile specializes in Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizza while Chattanooga Pizza Co. was originally called Home Slice Pizza of Chattanooga.
Southside Pizza vs. Community Pie | Southside Pizza is known for its large NY-style slices + Community Pie dishes out pizza and gelato downtown.
Lupi’s Pizza Pies vs. Pizza Bros | Lupi’s is a staple for the veggie folks while Pizza Bros offers specialty slices and wing deals.

Beginning today, we will host several voting rounds within our newsletters and social channels to determine Chattanooga’s best pizza. Who moves on is up to you. Vote for your favorites, and the pizza shop with more votes moves on. Simple as that. We’ll go until we have a champion, which will be announced in our Monday, March 25 newsletter. You will be able to voteonce per round.

Chattanooga-based commercial real estate agency Urban Story Ventures recently purchased a 13-acre shopping center at 3715 Ringgold Rd. The agency has plans to revitalize the East Ridge properties to include space for retail, medical, and office tenants. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

Get ready to experience a new kind of therapy experience. Chattanooga Salt Cavern will have its grand opening and open house on Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Swing by the space at 3800 St. Elmo Ave. to check out its halotherapy + dry salt therapy offerings.

Sunnyside Cup announced the last day of operation for its Signal Mountain Road location will be on Friday, March 8. Note: The coffee company will continue to operate from its trailer location at 3008 Broad St.

Folks can check out the “Nature’s Generosity” traveling exhibit now through Wednesday, April 17 at the Association for Visual Arts gallery. The exhibit features 90 works by 46 nature photographers that showcase “the beauty and diversity of nature, plant, and animal life.”

The Chattanooga Planning Department andDepartment of Public Works — after testing out temporary traffic patterns on Frazier Avenue and collecting data — have unveiled two possible options for a reconfiguration of the NorthShore street.
Option A (city’s preferred)
Buffer zones on Frazier Avenue for pedestrians and street art
More on-street parking (both ways), increasing from 27 to 35 spaces
Marked bike route on River Street, detouring through Coolidge and Renaissance Parks
Now, the city wants input from the community before finalizing a plan — the public comment period ends on Friday, March 15 + the final plan will be revealed on Friday, March 29. Take the city’s survey below.
