The Kelly Administration is tweaking the numbers of its proposed capital FY25 budget to set aside an additional $4.1 million for Chattanooga’s Parks and Outdoors Department.

The new funding will be used to address the identified areas of growth within the Parks and Outdoors Plan — which has a “fix, build, connect, and preserve” approach. Let’s see what these money trees can sprout:
  • $1 million to repair + maintain existing neighborhood parks.
  • $1 million to install lighting at Rivermont Park (supporting racquetball + youth team sports).
  • $1 million to acquire future locations of parks in underserved communities from voluntary sellers.
  • $500,000 for repairs + improvements along the 21st Century Waterfront.
  • $300,000 to prep the construction for the reimagined Montague Park.
  • $250,000 for expansions at the Chattanooga Zoo, enhancing animal care + educational programming.
  • $194,369 to maintain Chattanooga’s public art collection + install new works in the South Broad corridor.
City Council will vote on the budget on Tuesday, June 11 + Tuesday, June 18.
