The grass is bluer over at Ross’s Landing. The 3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival returns for its 17th year on Friday, Oct. 4 + Saturday, Oct. 5.
Folks can gather together to listen to performances by contemporary + traditional bluegrass musicians free of charge — including four-time Grammy Award-winning headliner, The Infamous Stringdusters.

Know before you go
The festival is rain or shine, so plan accordingly.
No outside food or drink (over 18 food trucks will be on-site to grab a bite) — bonus: The vendor application is still open.
Bring your own blankets or lawn chairs.
Wheelchair seating will be available near the stage.
Leashed pups can join the party.
Parking is available nearby (street, lot + garage) and the free shuttle will run until 11 p.m.

Inspired by cities that have reclaimed underpasses for recreational use, the pop-up is part of an ongoing effort to offer more activities in the Riverfront District.

The Tennessee Aquarium will host a silent auction starting Thursday, Sept. 12 through Thursday, Sept. 19, featuring 50 paintings done by its residents. That’s right, you can get a piece done by ring-tailed lemurs, gentoo and macaroni penguins, a Columbian red-tailed boa constrictor, a radiated tortoise, and an American alligator.

The Hunter Museum of American Art will host an opening reception for its latest exhibition on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. “City as Canvas: Graffiti Art from the Martin Wong Collection” depicts New York City’s streets in the 1970s and 1980s + will be on display through Monday, Jan. 13.

Northside Neighborhood House (NNH) has announced it will host its second annual Fashion Show in April. To prepare, NNH has opened a committee dedicated to organizing the event — from planning and sponsorship recruitment to ticket sales + collaboration opportunities.

What to expect at this year’s Highland Park Porchfest

Highland Park Porchfest, a music festival where “porches become stages, yards become seats, and radical generosity and good will rule the day,” will return on Saturday, Oct. 12.
This year will feature 20+ bands that will perform across 16 porches in the Highland Park neighborhood. The first performance will begin at 11:15 a.m. and the final act of the night will close at 10:55 p.m.
