Yearning for yarn? Chattanooga Yarn Co. is stocked with supplies for your next project. | Photo by @chattyarnco
Many big box stores and major retail chains are closing across the US, including in Chattanooga. But for the love of all things local, we’re exploring some of our favorite unique alternatives to the familiar franchises.
Joann Fabrics and Crafts
The craft store’s Gunbarrel Road location is set to shut down following a court approval to close its remaining stores. Luckily, you can find plenty of art supplies — from paints to frames — at Gannon Art on Brainerd Road.
For our yarn enthusiasts, we recommend checking out Chattanooga Yarn Co. located inside of Northgate Mall.
Lastly, head to nearby Red Bank to shop from The Knot & Needle, where you’ll find embroidery + needle felting kits. Bonus: Check out their upcoming class schedule.

A Diamond Dazzle Stick — aka, a travel-sized diamond cleaner pen that keeps jewelry sparkling on the go. Keep it in your purse for quick touch-ups so your rings will gleam. Bonus: It’s got 30,000+ five-star reviews.
I’m so happy to see over 70º weather and plenty of sunshine in the forecast this week. We’ve still got a few little winters left to experience in Tennessee, but seeing the first signs of spring warms my heart.
