With news of the Incline Railway reopening on Monday, July 14, we thought it would be a good time to give you a refresh on some other local landmarks that make the Scenic City special.
The Passage
The Passage is a stairway waterfall that flows down toward the Tennessee River. It serves as a memorial to the Trail of Tears + a public art project celebrating Cherokee history and culture.
Fireman’s Memorial Fountain
This historic landmark was built in 1888 following an incident known as the “Bee Hive” fire that took the lives of two Chattanooga firefighters, Henry Iler and W.M. Peak. Bonus: See which animal species guarded the fountain in the 1900s.
The W Road
Suggested by reader Don P., this road is historically known for being a Union supply line from Nashville to Chattanooga during the Civil War. Now, you might hear its new reputation of being the road that is often closed.

Closing
This news is certainly bittersweet. Reignbow Baking Co. will close its shop at Eastgate Towne Center on Friday, Aug. 15. The bakery has operated since 2018 + will continue to run its online store for cookie and brownie orders.

The American Heart Association + local partners have launched the first Heart Hub at the Chattanooga Public Library’s downtown branch. Located on the first floor, folks can now use an automated blood pressure monitor, access bilingual health materials + receive counseling and healthcare referrals.
Community
Broads Lounge is looking for creatives to help with the origin story of Hildi, its bar tap from the late 1800s. Participants can submit a tale up to 600 words now through Tuesday, July 8 for a chance to win a bed + breakfast stay and a brewstillery tour for two in nearby Ducktown.
Arts
