There aren’t many places that bring me as much peace as Chattanooga’s Riverwalk.

Since I moved back to the city, my husband and I have been to the Riverwalk so many times we’ve lost count. The path stretches 16.1 miles along the Tennessee River. Needless to say — we don’t walk it all in one day.

Instead, we like to explore a new section each time we go — which is easy to do, thanks to the Riverwalk’s many access points.

Pro tip: If you want to go but you’re not sure where to start, try the Chickamauga Dam. There’s so much to see there, from the dam itself to dozens of fishermen stocking up — and plenty of great blue herons catching their own meals.

The Riverwalk is beloved by many Chattanoogans, and because of that, it stays busy. So before you go, brush up on your Riverwalk etiquette with this helpful — and slightly dramatic — Reddit thread.
