A quick glance at Chattanooga’s weather forecast makes one thing abundantly clear — we’ve got a lot of hot and humid days ahead of us.

Don’t get us wrong, we love sunny days in the Scenic City, but finding out ways to balance out the heat with ways to cool down is essential. One way to do so? With a cool treat, of course.

Check out some of our favorite local spots that offer cool treats, along with a few suggestions from our Instagram followers.

🍦 Ice cream

If you see The Polar Peddler around town, you’ll want to stop for a gourmet ice cream sandwich. The mobile bike offers several flavors like birthday cake, orange creamsicle, and lemon shortcake (just to name a few). Make sure to follow the bike’s Instagram page for where it will be popping up + information on booking for private events.

When we asked our Instagram followers their favorite treats to cool down, an overwhelming amount of folks shared their love for Clumpies Ice Cream Co. Stop by the Southside, NorthShore, or St. Elmo locations to try out the classic flavors offered year-round or a scoop from the rotating seasonal flavors. Bonus: you can also find the Clumpies Truck at various locations.

Another suggestion from our followers was Mr. T’s Pizza & Ice Cream shop located at 3924 Tennessee Ave. in St. Elmo. This local shop offers traditional, variety, and special ice cream flavors + you can order by the pint for $4.49 plus tax.

NOOGAtoday | King of Pops

These all-natural, hand-crafted popsicles can be found in push carts around the Scenic City.

❄️ Popsicles

Look for the rainbow umbrella to find Chattanooga’s King of Pops at various locations. This pop-up cart has all kinds of delicious popsicles with vegan offerings + even some “King of Pups” options for your furry friend.

Bonus: We have to give a shout out to these folks for keeping Editors Kristen + Haley cooled down at this year’s Riverbend Festival. We loved the blueberry lemonade and mango tangerine flavors.

NOOGAtoday | Milk & Honey

Milk & Honey serves up gelato the traditional way, with many flavors to be enjoyed at once.

🍧 Italian ice + gelato

You can often find a Repicci’s Real Italian Ice & Gelato truck at the Chattanooga Market. You can pick from a variety of Italian ice + gelato flavors, or order a “gelati” to get a scoop of both. We recommend trying out the “chocoberry” combination of strawberry Italian ice with chocolate gelato.

While you’re walking through Northshore or downtown, pop into Milk & Honey for a scoop (or three) of the delicious gelato. Try the classic “Milk & Honey” flavor or be more adventurous with the avocado or pineapple habanero flavors (which are incredibly tasty, btw.)

NOOGAtoday | The Co-Op frose

Pick from a variety of frosé flavors at The Co-Op.

🍹 Frozen drinks

For our 21+ folks, cool off with a frosé from The Co-Op Frosé & Eatery. These drinks consist of frozen rosé wine, fresh lemon juice + fruit that come in all kinds of flavors.

Who says hot chocolate can only be served hot? Stop by The Hot Choclatier’s Southside + newly opened St. Elmo location for a frozen hot chocolate. Bonus: you can elevate your frozen hot chocolate by adding fresh fruit.

Want an even cooler version of your beloved cocktail? Unknown Caller Bar offers “slushee” versions of cocktails like a piña colada. Bonus: Get more bang for your buck with the “Yard of Slushee” which is two regular servings in a novelty palm tree cup.
