Hey NOOGA, Sean here. 👋 A NOOGAtoday reader sent us an email this week with a question we — to be completely honest — didn’t know how to answer right away. So, we thought you might be able to help her out.

She writes:

Would love to know what the 50+groups do? Places to go ? Singles dinners ? Something for people older that are widowed or divorced and empty nesters :) ...” — Vicki K.

Admittedly, the NOOGAtoday staff is in our 30s and we’re of a different generation. But as Vicki writes, there are plenty of 50+ Noogans (27% of Chattanooga’s population is older than 55) who are “young at heart,” “love to have fun” + enjoy the outdoors. And we agree 100% with Vicki — dating apps are “difficult,” to say the least. 😫

As far as 50+ groups, Meetup.com has always been a great resource for almost any type of person looking to meet other people. Likewise, an organization called Boomers Together seeks to help connect people with “fun and new adventures.” Check the Chattanooga Senior Activities Facebook page, and you’re likely to meet plenty of boomers + seniors if you join a local YMCA.

What are the best ways to meet people + experience the city when you’re over 50? Drop us an email and let us know your thoughts.
