The City of Chattanooga’s Parks and Outdoors Department is recreating recreation in the area with its Comprehensive Recreation Program Plan project.

To help, a city-wide forum has been launched to gather feedback on recreation trends, wants + needs. Let’s break down the three different ways to engage.

Survey it
Complete a five-question survey that assesses:

  • Recreation facilities + amenities you use — from community centers to spaces like Ross’s Landing
  • Programs your household has participated in recently + then ranking the four most important ones
  • Support for actionable items the department can do to improve the facilities
  • Any additional open-ended comments

Envision it
Anonymously leave your ideas to join the live discussion board. To inspire you, here are a couple of suggestions that have been left so far:

  • “Facilities for senior activities.”
  • “Chattanooga needs bike skills features and an urban pump track for bike exploration.”
  • “No. 1 priority must be keeping all the park venues safe. I think more agile park policing is needed if only for optics to discourage behaviors.”

Pro tip: If you see a suggestion you agree with, you can hit the heart button to like it.

Map it
For those that need to visually see it, you can add your ideas + comments on the interactive social map. Some markers placed include:

  • Something I Like | Heritage Park | “This is our favorite park in East Brainerd! There is a little something for everyone. Especially love the new library locker.”
  • Ideas/Suggestions | Jefferson Heights Park | “Would love to have more public sand volleyball courts in the downtown area.”

After gathering public input now through April, the PROS Consulting team will create a draft plan. Follow along through the project’s milestones. Bonus: There will also be public forums and workshops announced soon.
