If you took part in the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency’s (RPA) Plan Hamilton County survey — the findings and blueprint moving forward have been released.

Here are some of the key findings:

  • There is an expected demand for 46,000 new housing units by 2040.
  • The 47,000 public school, 10,000 private school + 20,000 local college students will need jobs and housing in the future.
  • The preservation of farmland + rural character should be made a top priority (additionally addressing worries about increased traffic congestion)

Note: The RPA is also teaming up with UTC to explore financial strategies to build new transportation + infrastructure projects.

In the coming months, RPA will bring together county departments + focus groups to share its findings and maps that envision the future of the community.
