Officials in nearby Walker County, GA recently announced plans to construct Adventure Acres — the community’s first signature park.

The eight-acre park, located off Salem Road, received $2.2 million in funding from an American Rescue Plan Act grant. The county has spent the past 16 months collaborating with a team from Barge Design Solutions to shape the park plans.

According to Walker County Public Relations Director Joe Legge, the park has been designed so that guests will be invited to “choose their own adventure” — so let’s dive into where your path may lead you.

Treehouse Adventure
This area of the park will include 60+ play features designed around two existing large oak trees. There will be a multi-lane zip track, swings, climbing boulders, slides, and more.

Water Odyssey Adventure
The 50-ft splash pad zone will have over a dozen sprayers, spreaders, soakers, barrels, and buckets for guests to keep cool.

Trail Adventure
A third walkway will guide visitors to a low-impact exercise zone with a quarter-mile, new-surfaced walking trail. Folks will also be able to relax in green spaces that are perfect for picnics or at a pavilion with restrooms.

Preliminary work began on the park last month + an official groundbreaking ceremony is planned for later this fall. Officials have slated for Adventure Acres to be open to the public by Memorial Day in 2025 — so stay tuned for an update.
