You may have heard of glamping, but what about wagon glamping?

Welcome Valley Village

City Editor Kristen here. I enjoyed a two-night stay at Welcome Valley Village, nestled in Benton, TN along the Ocoee River. This riverside retreat offers cabin rentals and wagon glamping — yes, you heard me right.

Covered wagon camping is on the property that looks like they came right off of the Oregon Trail. Each of the wagons has three beds and can sleep up to four guests. You’ll also have access to a private bathroom with a shower + shared access to a washer and dryer.

I loved that the wagons were all gathered around a cozy campfire + ingredients for s’mores were provided. It rained during my time there, but the sound of the rain against the wagon’s canvas put me right to sleep.

Additionally, there are six cabins spread out on the property. They range in size with the largest cabin (Chilhowee) sleeping up to 10 guests. Everyone on the property has access to the riverside amenities, including a large pavilion with tables.

I stayed in the Ocoee cabin, which felt straight out of a storybook. I loved that the river was less than 50 ft from the front porch (I couldn’t resist jumping in to cool off) + that it had a sunken jacuzzi tub to enjoy.

Enjoy a private hot tub while taking in the views and sounds of nature.

Wauhatchie Woodlands

Just a ~10-minute drive from Chattanooga’s downtown, you can head to the base of Lookout Mountain to stay in a variety of tiny home cabins + custom-built larger homes. Guests will have access to private hot tubs, fire pits, on-site trails, and even a pickleball court.

City Editor Haley here. I got to enjoy a one-night stay in Sophie Cabin, which felt truly like a staycation with its homey vibes. Even though it rained during my time there, the hot tub was under a beautiful tree canopy making it a top-tier experience as I heard and felt the raindrops while taking in the views of the woods. I even got up close with a wild turtle on his journey to forage for leaves.
