You may not notice this mural hidden behind a parking garage unless you’re looking closely.

In case you missed it, a few weeks ago we shared The Case of the Hidden Mural : a mystery we hope to solve with your help.

(We recommend going back to read the full case before continuing, if you haven’t already).

We received one particularly interesting clue that sheds more light on the mural:

The parking garage was constructed utilizing a federal grant obtained by the City of Chattanooga on behalf of the County (sorta unusual). I believe that it was funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Development District was involved. I vaguely remember the mural and lamented at the time that it would be covered...” — Ron L.

After sifting through old newspapers, the library’s online database, and asking the library’s history staff, we still couldn’t come up with anything more. Keep letting us know if you have more information.

In the meantime, we’ve submitted a few open records requests to learn more about the parking garage in particular.
