We get it, it can be difficult to make new friends as an adult, especially if you’re new in town. Don’t fret, we’re happy to help make this process a little easier on you.

🤝 Go to community events

Head over to our events calendar. It’s updated monthly and there to help you find opportunities to get out in the city + meet new people — there’s probably a lot more going on than you think.

Plus, there’s the Young Professionals of Chattanoogaa networking organization that promotes social growth, professional development, and community service. Follow the group’s Facebook page for information about upcoming networking events.

📸 Find a hobby

One of the best ways to make friends is to surround yourself with people who have similar interests. Whether that be a creative hobby like photography, calligraphy, or creative writing — The Chattery offers all kinds of classes you can join + meet people who share your interests.

If you’re into fitness, join a climbing gym like High Point Climbing and Fitness or Synergy Climbing and Ninjalocals know the climbing community in Chattanooga is tight knit.

If you like to read, join a book club. The Book & Cover hosts several different book clubs once a month. Pro tip: set your reminders when the sign-ups go live, spots fill up quickly.

📱Go mobile

We’re in the age of social media, so take advantage of it + connect with people who you wouldn’t meet otherwise.

ChattaNewbies is an online group focused on exploring life in Chattanooga. Keep an eye on their page for all kinds of networking events, mixers, and more for you to attend (and you don’t have to be new in town to join, by the way).

You can download the Meetup app or check out their website for social events + groups that meet up locally every week or month.

Pro tip: For any of this to work, you most likely will need to step out of your comfort zone, but consider us your first new friends. 🤝
