Chattanooga’s downtown growth gets a lot of attention, but other areas of Hamilton County have just as much going on.

So we’re starting an occasional series that highlights different parts of town, starting with East Brainerd. 👍

We’re putting the spotlight on six new businesses in that area + we asked local residents to share their thoughts about developments there.

First, here’s what a few readers said.

“East Brainerd resident here. Within the past week, the shopping center that was once home to “Spectaters” sports bar (many many years ago) was demolished and it looks like, per signage, that a new shopping center is being built to include a Starbucks. Great News!” — Laura M. ☕

“THANK YOU for helping explore/highlight East Brainerd. I don’t have anything to share, but would love to know about independent restaurants. There are SO MANY chains in the area.”
— Paula D.

“Mojo Burrito closed their restaurant on Jenkins to turn it into catering space. I’m very disappointed. Apparently Starbucks is going up on E. Brainerd. I would have preferred local, but am excited for a decent option on my way to work now.” — David W.
