Burgers got a week. Pizza got a week. Now — it’s taco’s turn.
Chattanooga Taco Week starts Monday, July 28 and lasts through Sunday, Aug. 3. More than 20 Chattanooga restaurants are offering $4 tacos — here are a few that are making my mouth water.
White Duck Taco
White Duck Taco is fairly new to Chattanooga, but it’s already known for its tasty tacos. For Chattanooga Taco Week, it’s serving up Bangkok shrimp tacos with fried shrimp, curry cucumbers, and sambal aioli.
Taco Mamacita
Taco Mamacita Hamilton Place chose chicken tinga tacos dorados and recommends pairing it with the restaurant’s passion fruit sangria. If you’re partial to the Northshore location, don’t worry — it’s participating in Chattanooga Taco Week as well.
Exploring Art | 10-11 a.m. | Downtown Library | Free | Kids in grades K-2 will explore themes in art — this week’s class is focused on modern art.
Chattanooga Market at Erlanger East | 11 a.m.-3 p.m. | Erlanger East Hospital | Free | Browse around a smaller version of the popular downtown Chattanooga Market.
Riverfront Nights | 6-10 p.m. | Ross’s Landing | Free | Get ready to rock out to Queen’s iconic hits with The Kings of Queen tribute band.
Shades of Red | Saturday, July 26-Sunday, July 27 | Times vary | Barking Legs Theater | $25+ | Sit back and watch as Wendy Pursley brings six different characters to life in this one-woman show.
A heads up for drivers. The Tennessee Department of Transportation will begin a resurfacing and restriping project on Cherokee Boulevard this Sunday. The goal of the project is to improve traffic flow and increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Drivers should be prepared for temporary lane closures and detours during construction. Civic
$1.3 million. That’s what the City would save by retiring its curbside recycling program. The option arose following discussions about finding raises for police officers and firefighters in the city’s budget. Other proposals on the table include raising property taxes and keeping the curbside service in place. (News Channel 9)
Edu
The first day of school is just around the corner and volunteers are needed to get K-12 students prepared. Better Together projects will start tomorrow and volunteers can help with sprucing up school campuses + helping new teachers shop. If you’d like to help, sign up for a project.
State
No more in-class Snapchat. A new law prohibits Tennessee students from using personal cellphones — unless for instructional or medical purposes — while in the classroom for the 2025-2026 school year. Teachers can still give students permission to use phones when appropriate, and exceptions for those with IEPs or 504 plans are available. (Local 3 News)

Franklin, Johnson City + Collierville were featured on this list of the best cities in the US for raising “free range” kids (a la 1980s unsupervised exploration). This has us wondering, did you grow up in Chattanooga? Regale us with your childhood NOOGA memories, we may share them in an upcoming article.

Fact of Fiction
The color of your car impacts your car insurance rate. Fact or fiction? Luckily for Nicki Minaj, this is fiction. Still, rates can change for other reasons, so experts advise shopping around regularly. See if you could save with this quick questionnaire.*

I have a confession to make: I’m not a great cook. Tacos are one of the few things I can make — but after writing about Chattanooga Taco Week, I’ve decided to leave it to the experts next week. Let me know which restaurants you decide to try, and maybe we can swap taco reviews.
