The Scenic City will get a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant — Massey’s Kitchen is set to open on Monday, June 19.

Envisioned by SquareOne Holding Co. (owners of Stir + State of Confusion), the new spot will replace the former Café on the Corner located at 826 Scenic Hwy. The space is also undergoing renovations to cater to the new style of the restaurant. Here is an idea of what folks can expect:

  • A more open floor plan to allow the patio space to still see the kitchen + bar areas
  • A large artisan oven in the kitchen
  • A seated bar + chef’s table in the dining section
  • Expansion of the patio to include new garage door openings + extended outdoor space in the adjoining Scenic Highway area

Let’s talk food. The menu will take heavy inspiration from the Mediterranean region centered around the idea of friendly gatherings, fresh ingredients, shareable plates, and well-crafted drinks. The spot will serve lunch, dinner + weekend brunch.

With made-from-scratch items like artisan breads, the spot will take an informal approach to delve into “Italian, Spanish, and Greek-inspired cuisine” + some traditional American items. In order to bring authentic techniques to Lookout Mountain, the team at SquareOne traveled to different regions of Italy including Rome and Naples.

Fun fact: The name is in tribute to Massey Food Market, which occupied that spot from the 1920-70s + was known for being a gathering space for the community.

In an effort to honor this history, Massey’s Kitchen and the SquareUp Foundation will partner with the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger Hematology and Oncology Clinic during its opening — raising funds + awareness to purchase a new surgical procedure-infusion bed.

Follow the restaurant’s Instagram page for updates + details about opening day.
