Although we Chattanoogans are generally quick to tell people how much our city has grown and changed for the better, it can be easy to forget all the little details that add up to the overall metamorphosis.

But, never fear. We’re here to jog your memories with the Google Maps Street View tool.

DYK you can use the tool to find a specific address, see the most recent Google images + see how that exact location looked in previous years?

For example, in the image below the 700 block of Market Street looked different in August 2011 (top) compared to July 2018 (bottom).

Check out the before and after below. The green space you see in the picture is now Market City Center, which includes apartments, commercial space and new restaurant Bantam + Biddy.

The 300 block of MLK

Here’s the 300 block of East MLK Boulevard in 2007. Look how much it has changed. The bottom photo shows the same area in July 2018. The mural on the AT&T building is one major change. Several new businesses have also filled the commercial space that’s shown.

Lifestyle Way

Lifestyle Way off Shallowford Road was pretty vacant in 2011. Now there’s a hotel + Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.

Hixson Pike

In 2007, the 5500 block of Hixson Pike was totally clear. By July 2018, Food City and Wendy’s seemed almost as if they’d always been there.
