5 things to do over Labor Day Weekend in Chattanooga

It’s officially Labor Day weekend. We’ve rounded up five events happening in the Scenic City to celebrate the holiday + end the last big weekend of summer.

Mountaintop Summers

Head to Rock City now through Monday, Sept. 2 to explore the “Red String” sculptural installation + the new “Standing Stones Garden” featuring native plants. You can also check the park’s daily offerings of animal education shows and activities. Pro tip: Purchase your tickets ahead of time online to save $5.

Butterfly Festival

This annual festival and community fundraising event returns to Heritage High School on Saturday, Aug. 31. Participate in a 5K walk/run beginning at 8 a.m. and stay for live entertainment, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, vendors, and a butterfly release from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Open Gate Days

Spend the day outside at Lula Lake Land Trust on Saturday, Aug. 31 + Sunday, Sept. 1 to explore over eight miles of trails, bluff views, and a 120-ft waterfall. Tickets start at $16.

Fall Food Truck Rally

The annual event returns to First Horizon Pavilion on Sunday, Sept. 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. where you can try bites from various local food trucks in block-party fashion while enjoying the Chattanooga Market offerings.

Family Golf Tournament

Parents and their children can team up for a friendly nine-hole competition at McLemore Resort on Sunday, Sept. 1. All teams will celebrate with a cookout and enjoy a clinic with PGA professional Charlie Rymer. Register for $60.
