On the hunt for local spots to try outside of Chattanooga’s downtown area? Today we’re highlighting some hidden gems in nearby Hixson, including places to eat and things to do.

Note: These are just a few of the great recommendations we received from our Instagram followers, check out the post for other suggestions.

Good eats

Asian Food & Gifts
This shop has been the area’s largest Asian grocery store for over 40 years. Shop a wide variety of food and household items, you can’t skip out on a new flavor of ramen or a sweet candy to try.

Spanglish
This modern Mexican restaurant is known for its tacos. We recommend the birria tacos and agua frescas — just ask what flavors are on the menu that day.

Sidetrack Restaurant
This restaurant specializes in “wood-fired dishes with global inspiration” — we love the salsa verde half chicken + the spicy ricotta gnocchi.

Things to do

Vinterest Hixson
This Vinterest location features over 16,000 sqft of vintage and handmade items to shop from over 100 vendors (and includes a food market). Fun fact: This was the original Vinterest location before the Downtown and Nashville shops opened.

Infinity Flux
Interested in pop culture? Head to this store to shop for comics, collectibles, games, and much more. This spot also buys items if you’re looking to get rid of some of your collection. Bonus: Follow the shop’s Instagram page for deals, new items, and events.

Greenway Farms
This ~180-acre park is nestled along North Chickamauga Creek. It features walking, running, hiking, and biking trails + an off-leash dog park. Folks can also paddle along the creek at one of the canoe access points.

Bonus: We’re also anxiously awaiting the opening of Tanasi Brewing and Supplies + Brothers Bagels in Hixson — we’ll make sure to share details when they become available.
