The Samuel L. Jackson guide to Chattanooga

We’re pitching our ideas for what this actor would want to get into when visiting his hometown, right here in the Scenic City.

If you could spend one day with this Chattanooga legend, where would you take him?

City Editor Haley here — was anyone else surprised to see Samuel L. Jackson be a Super Bowl LIX halftime show guest?

Since it’s been a while since the actor has visited Chattanooga, the place he grew up, it got me thinking... Where would I take Mr. Cool if I got the honor to give him a personalized tour of some of the newer places around town?

Pulling from some of his most well-known interests from interviews, including his “60 Minutes” special, here’s how I would spend a day with him.

Tee time
Jackson has been known to be an avid golfer, and while I think he would enjoy most courses the Scenic City has to offer. I would book us some time at McLemore Club to play a game on the cliff’s edge.

Cigars for lunch
From being Smoke Magazine’s cover in 1998 to expressing his love for a cigar behind screens, Jackson would definitely feel relaxed inside Humidor Cigar Bar & Lounge.

Welcome home
In true homecoming fashion, I would get us a table at Home Bar because not only do I think Jackson would love to see the new additions to Chattanooga’s food scene, but he would definitely appreciate the art from Genesis the Greykid + other local artists, curated by Kreneshia Riellé.

Exploring local waterways
Jackson went to college intending to study marine biology. So of course, I would have to take him to the Tennessee Aquarium so he could learn about their recent efforts for protecting the laurel dace.

Nightcap
To end his day with me, I would take Jackson to Sleepyhead Coffee’s Main + Dodds location to enjoy a refreshing drink at the zero-proof bar.
