Food Truck Fridays feature yummy bites, local art during lunch break

Do you remember the 700 block food truck park on Market Street? The NOOGAtoday staff used to eat there often (sometimes every day for me … I have a problem. 😳). But, then the Market City Center building was built and … well … the little park turned into a huge mixed-use complex with apartments and retail space.

We’ve heard whispers about several new events coming to the newly renovated Miller Park and our fingers were crossed that one of those things might be a throwback to the old food truck park that we loved so much.

*We were right* Food Truck Fridays is back and even better than it was before … just at a different location.

Beginning this Friday — from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Miller Park will host your favorite local food trucks like Rolling J’s Mobile Bistro, Chatter Box Café, Clumpies Ice Cream Co. and Go Gyro Go.

River City Company is partnering with Market City Center for the event every Friday through Nov. 16.

Food trucks would be enough, of course. But as they say in infomercials, that’s not all folks. Each Friday also offers a chance for visitors to experience a performance from a partner art or cultural organization and spend some 💲on local artists at a pop-up vendor fair.

Meagan Shinn, program director at River City Co., says “people want activity, events and reasons to go to public places where a program like Food Truck Fridays comes into play.”

River City Co. is also behind the popular Wednesday Noontunes concert series at Miller Park.

Here’s the complete schedule of performers and activities:

Sept. 28 | Culture Fest 2018 Preview | music and dancing from around the world. 🌎

Oct. 5 | Chattanooga Symphony and Opera | enjoy the lush sounds of a live string quartet. 🎻

Oct. 12 | Chattanooga Ballet | a special fall performance featuring traditional ballet.

Oct. 19 | SoundCorps | live music from local performers 🎶

Oct. 26 | Chattanooga Workspace | a local artist showcase feat. Rick Rushing 🎸 and Hollie Berry 🎨

Nov. 2 | Muse of Fire | adult actors perform plays written by kids 🎭

Nov. 9 | ArtsBuild | piano in the park with Tim Hinck 🎹
