Five local pet murals planned at new Chattanooga HES building

Think you have the cutest pet in Nooga? Prove it with a mural. If you haven’t heard, the Humane Educational Society has a new $13 million facility (4155 Randolph Circle), and it’s definitely an upgrade from the last one. The new shelter opened in mid-January, and now they’re planning to auction off five custom murals of local pets on their building.

🐶 Five pet portraits are planned for the entrance to the new HES building.

🐶 One mural will feature a pet in the adoption lobby.

🐶 Another pet mural will go in the admissions lobby.

🐶 And a third mural is planned for the entrance to the public adoption area + will feature three local pets.

🐶 Local artist Alex Loza will design and paint murals of the auction winners’ pets.

If you think your pet deserves lasting fame, you can bid in the auction here starting on Mon., March 1 at 6 a.m. The HES will take bids until Wed., March 31 at 8 p.m.

Winning bidders will be contacted to submit one or multiple photos of their pet + the murals will take three to five months to complete.

HES fast facts

🐱 The 32,000-square-foot facility, Foy Animal Shelter, is named after donors John and Trish Foy.

🐱 It can accommodate 108 dogs and 180 cats.

🐱 The surroundings are more pleasant think greenery and room to run + play — and the enclosures are of much higher quality than before.

🐱 It’s a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization always in need of donations for animal care, goods + services.

🐱 The HES annual impact looks like:

  • 3,904 pets adopted
  • 384 lost pets returned to owners
  • 2,387 pets spayed or neutered
  • 417 volunteers
