We know April is practically here, but before March is out of mind, let’s revisit some of the best things we saw this month. For starters, our readers got hyped about dogs + cats, nostalgia for local businesses and flooding that could have been.

Top conversation: Meet the Chattanooga Police Department’s K9 unit

The CPD has about 500 sworn officers, but DYK there are six dogs in their K9 unit? In honor of National K9 Veterans Day, we highlighted these remarkable animals that help keep our community safe.

We also quizzed you, asking, “What breed of dog is not as commonly used for police work?” Your choices were German Shepherd, Greyhound, Belgian Shepherd and Dutch Shepherd. The answer was, of course, the Greyhound with 71% answering correctly.

  • This video from Sam Hall shows what potential catastrophic flooding Chattanooga could have experienced recently. TVA estimated their system of dams helped prevent $1.6 billion of flood damages in February.
