Have you ever wanted to observe a feeding at the Chattanooga Zoo? Here’s your chance. Zoo officials have announced the second annual Beastly Feast event on Sept. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. The after-hours event is “dedicated to animal enrichment” and allows guests to observe carnivores exercise their naturalistic behaviors and indulge in carcass feedings. Tickets are available now online or in the zoo gift shop. A few tickets will be sold at the door if available. Admission is $12 for adults and $9 for children. From the release:

Throughout the entire evening, guests will learn from our zookeepers why carcass feedings and other animal enrichment is vital for the physical, emotional, and mental health of our animals. In addition to the enrichment activities, Beastly Feast will offer the opportunity to purchase food and drinks at the zoo’s restaurant, Wild Burger, and refreshment carts. There will also be cash bars that will serve beer and wine for those looking to have a wild night! “Carcass feedings are very common enrichment practices within many AZA-accredited zoos. Carcass feedings simulate feedings that would take place in an animal’s natural habitat in the wild, and we are excited to have the opportunity to share this experience with our community once again,” says Chattanooga Zoo’s CEO & President, Dardenelle Long.

Beastly Feast is sponsored by Hits 96, EPB Fiber Optics, Nooga Vision, The Johnson Group, Twice the Ice, Tubatomic, Vincent Printing, NOOGAtoday, Cherokee Distributing, Athens Distributing and Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
