fusion eatery Lil Oso has been in the space, but Thursday Han-Mi — a new Korean-American restaurant will take over.

And, just wait, it gets better.

Also on Thursday, Market South is launching a new beer made in collaboration with local pioneering business, Chattanooga Brewing Co.

The details

  • Han-Mi is preparing to open a storefront on Broad Street, but in the meantime, owner David Sherrill (aka Panda) will be bringing his creations to Market South’s test kitchen.
  • Han-Mi will be open there this Thursday from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Coinciding with this Thursday’s Han Mi debut is a special release of local beer.
  • Market South’s Five Wits Brewing Co. partnered with Chattanooga Brewing Co. to create a hoppy beer, called Bitter Wheat Symphony, which they will release Thursday. (See what they did there with the name?)

Wait, there’s more.

  • Han-Mi is moving into the former Mrs. B’s Reggae Café. If you’ve been here for a while, you may also remember this space used to be Soup’s On. The opening date is TBA.
  • Market South owner Mike Monen said he hopes that Han-Mi will get to spend a month at the food hall, but it depends on when the Broad Street location is ready.
  • Five Wits head brewer Elliot Kehoe said that special release batches are generally smaller, but it should last about a week. So get it while you can.
  • If you do miss Bitter Wheat Symphony, Kehoe said that Five Wits is doing special release batches every Thursday for the next month.
